Giving Monday Nights a Whole New Meaning…Ben Howard LIVE

I am guessing that many of you (like me) may dread Sunday nights…or Monday mornings.

I decided to actively beat the Monday blues today however and set my sights on something that I knew would turn my day around…music.

When a friend offered up an extra ticket to a Ben Howard concert…I barely paused but a second.

And while I must confess at the outset that I had barely heard of the guy, I was thrilled to be doing something other than well nothing…because: who does anything on a Monday anyways?

Well apparently, I may be alone in thinking that Mondays are reserved for nothing other than the junk food equivalent of reality TV…

Bowery Ballroom was packed, flooded with eager fans awaiting Ben Howard.

It is hard to put into words just how insanely talented this guy was. His musical genius literally radiated off his guitar strings. There were moments when his hands would just become blurs as he strummed faster and faster, intermittently slapping the guitar with the back of his hand…doing a technique that let’s face it, I haven’t the vaguest idea about. All I know is that what I heard was remarkable.

As I now sit back in my apartment reflecting on the incredible level of talent I just witnessed, I scour the internet searching for my newfound favorite song. And while the wonderful melodic surprises of this song still come through this recording, I must say, it does not really do the song justice…the live performance that I just had the pleasure of witnessing was something I will never forget.
