The Zen of the Candle – Now Mainstream

I have always loved candles – the rustic, calming feelings that they evoke. And yet, for some time now I have always felt there is some sort of a stigma attached to one that owns more than one candle… insert: are we having a seance?

But sometime in between the time it took for Yoga to become mainstream, it seemed that candles were all the rage…being sold at  anywhere from trendy boutiques to the one and only…Anthropology – where as cliche as it may be – the majority of my candles are purchased from.

Just the other lazy Sunday afternoon, I lit our large green candle in the living room. And as trite as it can sound – it actually did somehow give the entire room a new glow and warmth that seemed to make us all a little bit happier. With scents ranging from honeycomb to roses, fig, orange, vanilla, or cinnamon – I find it a new hobby of mine – to pick a candle or identify a flavor that I associate with each passing season. This winter, I purchased sweet vanilla cinnamon and pumpkin soufflé:)
